Santa Clarita Sports Report: New No. 1 Football Team

Palos Verdes moved into the No. 1 spot, knocking Hart off the top for the first time this season.

Hart lost to Valencia, 24-19, on Friday night. The Indians dropped to No. 4 in the Northern Division. Valencia moved up to No. 2 after its shocking win over previously undefeated Hart.

The Canyon football team is No. 6 in the Northern Division. The Cowboys beat West Ranch, 28-6.

Santa Clarita High School Sports

In high school volleyball, the Valencia and West Ranch girls are tied for the No. 10 spot in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 poll.

La Salle is the No. 1 team in girls volleyball in the Southern Section Division 2. In cross country, the Saugus boys are ranked No. 2 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 poll.

The Saugus and Canyon girls are ranked in the top 10 in the Southern Section Division 2 poll. Saugus is ranked No. 2 and Canyon is No. 7. In high school football, the Trinity Classical Academy is the No. 3 seed in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 8-man playoffs.

Trinity has a bye in the first round and will play the winner of the Noli Indian vs. California Lutheran game on Nov. 15. In high school tennis, the Hart girls are the No. 4 seed in the Southern Section Division 2 playoffs. The Indians will play the winner of the wild-card match between Chadwick and Temple City.

The West Ranch and Saugus girls tennis teams open playoffs in the Division 2 wild-card round today. West Ranch travels to play Crescenta Valley. Saugus is on the road and plays Santa Monica.

Los Angeles Sports Update

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the visiting Houston Rockets, 137-118. Dwight Howard made his return to LA as a member of the Rockets. The Clippers handed the Rockets their first loss of the season.

Next up for the Clippers are the Orlando Magic in Florida on Wednesday.
