High School Football Starts Tonight

KHTS AM-1220 will broadcast the first game of the season.

ImageAt 6:30 p.m. tonight, high school football kicks off in Santa
Clarita. The first game in the highly competitive area will be played by Golden
Valley and Littlerock
High Schools.

In contrast to earlier years, no clear favorite has emerged
from any of the schools.

“This could one of the most competitive years the Foothill
league has ever seen,” said Jason Galvin, with KHTS Sports. “Will West Ranch be
able to challenge for a league title? Can Canyon return to the playoffs? Can
Hart persevere and grab another title? Only time will tell.”

Two years ago, Canyon high won the state championship. Last
year, it was Hart and Saugus who
went deep into the playoffs, with Hart eventually losing the CIF Northern
Division Championship game to St. Bonaventure.

Pre-season games start Thursday, and foothill league games
begin on October 17th. The foothill league is made up entirely of Santa Clarita
schools, and it includes Hart, Saugus,
Canyon, Valencia,
Golden Valley and West
Ranch High Schools.

Each week, KHTS AM-1220 will broadcast one or multiple high
school games and College of the Canyons games as well. See which games will be
on the air by checking out our football broadcast schedule.
