Hart Softball Team Stays Perfect

Hart won its ninth straight game behind solo home runs from Jessica Shults and Tracy Chandless.

In high school volleyball, the Hart boys team got 12 kills and five blocks from Gregory Taylor in a win over Crescenta Valley. Hart won the match, 3 games to 1. Setter J.J. Mosolf had 19 assists and eight kills.

In boys tennis, Valencia posted a decisive 14-4 win over Buckley of Sherman Oaks.

In boys golf, Canyon squeaked past Burbank by four strokes, 419-423, in a match at the TPC at Valencia. Justin Golden shot a 6-over par 78 to lead Canyon. Paco Franco was 7-over.

The Foothill League girls soccer coaches selected their players of the year. Fittingly Valencia’s Alyssa Triana and Canyon’s Milan Cabrera will share the honor. Canyon and Valencia were co-champions of the Foothill League.
Surprisingly, Saugus, which won the CIF Southern Section Div. II championship and earned a berth in the Regional Tournament, had only three players on the first team: Erin Ortega, Jamie Molacek and Shannon Suarez.
