City Council hopeful talks to KHTS.In a live one hour interview on Friday, City Council Candidate and current Planning Commissioner Diane Trautman spoke about Santa Clarita’s most pressing issues.
Among those, is a lack of affordable housing, especially for seniors. “Its multiple solutions. Its not just about building more affordable buildings and making sure the rents are stabilized for them, but also looking at other options,” Trauman said. “People can add granny flats on to their homes if they can do it within certain standards, so I think we should be encouraging that.”
Trautman also went on to say that affordable housing is much more than just a nice thought. “That’s going to be essential to our stability in the long haul because we can’t be a high end community of 500,000 people here, that’s not sustainable.”
