First World Series MVP dead at 75.

Former World Series MVP and Brooklyn Dodgers star Johnny Podres died Sunday.  He was 75.  Podres was the first ever World Series MVP, winning the award in 1955 after helping the Dodgers overcome the New York Yankees and win their first World Series in franchise history.

1955 marked the first time a team won the World Series after losing the first two games.  In game seven at Yankee Stadium, Podres shut down the Yankees 2-0 on eight hits to give the Dodgers their only World Championship before moving to Los Angeles.  Podres appeared in four All-Star games in his career, which spanned 15 years in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, as well as with the San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers.  A four time All-Star, Podres retired in 1969 with a career record of 148-166.
