Forest Service Holds Sayre Fire Information Meeting

Forest Service to hold public meeting for residents near Sayre Fire area.

Sponsored By:

Valencia Auto Center

A public meeting
hosted by the Angeles National Forest will be held at Sylmar High School at 6 p.m. Thursday  to discuss the findings of federal and state
field assessment teams. In addition to the U.S. Forest Service, representatives
from the State of California, City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, and
the Natural Resources Conservation Service will be present at the meeting.

The meeting will be held in the Spartan Theater at Sylmar
High School, 13050 Borden Avenue, Sylmar, Calif., 91342. Spartan Theater is
located to the immediate left (across from the main office) upon entering the
school off of Borden Avenue.

The U.S. Forest Service Burned Area Emergency Response
(BAER) Team and the Burned Area Recovery Team (BART) from the State of
California are comprised of biologists, soil scientists, engineers, hydrologists
and other technical and resource specialists who identify and assess post fire
impacts to lives, property and natural and cultural resources (Values at Risk).

This information is then shared with various public works
departments, utilities, fire and law enforcement agencies, elected officials
and the public. The findings of the BAER Team will be included in a report
available later this month on the Angeles National Forest website at www.fs.fed.us/r5/angeles. The BART
report will be available in the near future on the Governor’s Office of
Emergency Services’ website at www.oes.ca.gov.
