Los Angeles County Fire Department crews have already defeated a 4 acre fire in Canyon Country.

The blaze was located at Sultus Avenue and Brooken Avenue off of Sand Canyon Road.

The fire was called the Sutlus incident.

The fire Department has now reported knockdown on this fire. (official time is listed at 1:00pm.)

Update: KHTS has now received confirmation from LA County Fire that the blaze was started by a malfunctioning chainsaw which caught fire when it was in use by landscapers.

ImageNo homes were damaged. Structure protection  techniques were implemented for 4 homes, although they were ranch style homes with 200 ft of defensible space around them, which was optimal for fire crews.

3 helicopters helped out on scene; 2 from Los Angeles County Fire and 1 from LA City Fire.

Sultus Avenue is still closed to through traffic. KHTS has been told that residents who leave the street will not be allowed in until the street is re-opened to the public.
