Explorer Program Gets A Boost From Sandwich Giveaway
Jersey Mike's gives back to the community by helping kids in uniform.
The Law Enforcement Explorer program at the Santa Clarita Valley station got
a $1,700 shot in the arm last week when the owner of a local Jersey Mike’s franchise
decided to celebrate his first anniversary by hosting a fundraiser for the
Nearly 1,000 sandwiches were given away in exchange for donations to the
program, which serves young men and women between the ages of 14 and 21 who are
pursuing a career in law enforcement.
In celebrating their one year anniversary in the City of
Jersey Mike's Subs, located in the

In a gesture of goodwill, Steve said he wanted to give back to the community
that has been so good to him in his first year of operation. On
Friday, February 27, Steve and all the Jersey Mike's employees
advertised an offer good for one free sub sandwich with

During the all-day event hundreds of customers, Sheriff's
Explorers, community leaders, and Sheriff's personnel visited the
sandwich shop. Steve and his employees made 3 sandwiches every two
minutes for 11 hours. When the event was over and the
exhausted employees closed the doors, the generous residents of the Santa
Clarita Valley and Jersey Mike's had raised more than $1,700.00 for the
Santa Clarita Sheriff's Explorer Program.
The Law Enforcement Explorer Program in the Santa Clarita Valley is a
Sheriff's Department youth oriented volunteer program affiliated with the
offices of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and Learning for Life. Its
primary purpose is to provide, through actual experience, a means by which
young men and women may determine if they would like to pursue a career in law

human resources and it opens an important avenue of understanding with an
