A Canyon Country man led deputies on a high-speed chase through Valencia and into Sylmar in a stolen red Chevrolet Tahoe with Nevada plates Tuesday evening.
Allen Wesley Myles, 25, was taken into custody in Sylmar after crashing the stolen car and running away from sheriff's deputies, according to Sgt. Tom Jensen of the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's station.
The pursuit began at 4:30 p.m. after deputies responded to a burglary in the Walmart parking lot on The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch. Myles bolted, initiating a pursuit that took multiple squad cars across McBean
Parkway, Magic Mountain
Parkway, Calgrove Blvd and down the I-5 freeway.
After leading deputies through rush-hour traffic on the west side, including a brief run through the Valencia Town Center's parking structure, Myles jumped onto the southbound I-5, getting off at Calgrove and winding through the neighborhood on Creekside before getting back on the southbound I-5 and heading south. He followed the freeway to the eastbound 210, making a sharp exit at Polk Street.
After speeding down Polk Street for several blocks, Myles collided with a blue pickup truck, seriously injuring the driver, who was taken to an area hospital. Myles exited the Tahoe and jumped a fence, running into the back yard of a residence and confronting two men at the location before returning to the front of the house and heading back onto the street. In an alley behind the residence, Sgt. Brian Allen of the Santa Clarita Valley station detained Myles and took him into custody shortly after 5:30 p.m.
According to Jensen, Myles is being held on suspicion of several felony counts, including evading arrest, burglary, auto theft and hit-and-run. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
