Warning Resource Center Receives Grant

To prepare for and prevent acts of terrorism, the Sheriff’s Department’s has accepted a grant in the amount of $400,000 from the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Office of State and Local Government Coordination and Preparedness, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department operates a highly successful Terrorism Early Warning operation and is an excellent example of a multi-jurisdictional information sharing project. Grant funding will be used to support the National Terrorism Early Warning Resource Center, which provides the guidance and educational resources necessary for jurisdictions to implement their own Terrorism Early Warning operations and have them incorporated into the national network.
