Trash Strike Is Over
Waste Management drivers agree to contract
The Teamsters Local 396 have now approved a new five year contract with Waste Management.
The union, consisting of trash truck drivers had been on strike for a week and a half after failing to approve a contract.
According to Waste Management, the new contract is exactly the same as the one the workers declined before the strike occurred.
“We are glad the employees have accepted our contract offer today,” Kit Cole, spokesperson for Waste Management said in a statement yesterday. “We are pleased that we have reached an agreement and can focus on providing service to our customers.”
The strike affected many in the unincorporated areas in the Santa Clarita Valley such as Castaic and Stevenson Ranch.
