Topanga Fire 20 Percent Contained - Burbank Blaze Out of Control!

 

 

Low humidity along with calm winds is helping firefighters to gain the upper hand on the Topanga Fire, which as of early Friday evening has burned 21,000 acres. The blaze on the Los Angeles-Ventura county line was 20 percent contained, and fire officials are expecting 35 percent containment by day's end. All evacuation orders have been lifted. Two homes as well as three outbuildings, a garage and storage shed were lost. Battling the blaze are firefighters from the

Los Angeles city and county fire departments, the Ventura County Fire Department, the California Department of Forestry and the National Park Service. Crews from some Northern California fire departments and water-dropping aircraft from Canada have arrived in Los Angeles to join local firefighters.

Burbank . Having burned some 500 + acres, with no containment in site, as of 6 pm Friday, crews from Burbank , L.A. County and Glendale will continue to battle this blaze throughout the night.

A smoke advisory from the South Coast Air Quality Management District was also extended Friday. Air in the San Fernando Valley has been classified as unhealthy, according to AQMD. Areas deemed unhealthy for sensitive individuals include: the Santa Clarita Valley, northwest coastal Los Angeles County, central Los Angeles, the west San Gabriel Valley,  San Gorgonio Pass, east San Bernardino Valley and the San Bernardino Mountains. People with heart or lung disease, emphysema, asthma or chronic lung problems should minimize all outdoor activity.
