Three Convicts Escape From Castaic Facility
At about 5:45 Tuesday afternoon, three laundry workers at the Peter J. Pitchess Detention Facility at the Castaic Wayside Honor Rancho were noticed missing.
According to Lt. Bryski of the Santa Clarita Substation of the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department, the suspects include:
- Ricardo Hernandez, 34, male latino, 5' 4", 160 lbs, charged for posession of narcotics
- Rogelio Galarza, 31, male latino, 5' 6", 195 lbs, charged for posession of a concealed firearm
- Roman Becerra, 20, male latino, 5' 8", 135 lbs, charged for burglary
Since daybreak, the Sheriff's department has launched at least one search helicopter in the northwest end of the Santa Clarita Valley.
An L.A. County jail jumpsuit was found in the hills behind the Tusaro Tract off of Copper Hill Drive in Saugus, which remains the primary search area, aside from the immediate periphery of the Wayside Honor Rancho facility.
The Wayside Honor Rancho facility is in Castaic off of the 5 freeway and Hasley Canyon road. The jail consists of 2800 acres in 4 facilities, housing over 10,000 inmates.
