Strickland Attends First Convention
Romney Supporter Represents SCV In Sacramento Meeting
Local school board member Paul Strickland participated in the California Republican Assembly convention in Sacramento last weekend, representing the 38th Assembly District.
“I always wanted to go to a convention, so now that I’m an old man, I finally got to go to one and even though it was just on the state level, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s part of democracy, to see people get involved and still care about the process instead of being cynical.”
At the convention, Mitt Romney won the group’s endorsement by earning 148 votes to Fred Thompson’s 73.
He also said it’s important for young people to get excited about the process, which he termed “unique”
“I grew up on the East Coast and they teach you from a very young age about your history so you have a full understanding of what democracy means and how important it is to preserve that.”
Strickland, who is chairing Mitt Romney’s campaign in the Santa Clarita Valley, said that the candidate will appear at the Burbank Airport Marriott at 1:30 Thursday as part of his “Ask Mitt” speaking series. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
