Spooky Halloween Recipes

Add a special spooky flair to your Halloween Festivites with these recipes for "Witches' Brew" and "Roasty Toasty Pumpkin Seeds". . .

Witches' Brew

1 gallon apple cider

1 orange

1 apple

3 cinnamon sticks

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

several cloves

Pour the apple cider in a large "cauldron".  Then peel the orange and squeeze its juice into the cider, discarding the pulp.  Tear the orange peel into 1 inch strips, and add to the mixture.  Break the cinnamon sticks in half, and add them to the brew along with the cloves.  Lastly, add the nutmeg, and allow the mixture to warm over medium heat for 2 hours, stirring often.  Pour into cups, and enjoy!

Roasty Toasty Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds

2 quarts of water

1/2 cup of salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons dried rosemary

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Rinse seeds thoroughly as the water comes to a boil in the pot.  Add a pinch of salt, and pour the seeds, carefully, into the boiling water.  Once the seeds are soft, drain the seeds, and pat them dry.  Put them in a bowl, adding the olive oil, salt, and rosemary.  Toss the ingredients together, then place then in a single layer on a baking sheet.  Roast for 20 - 30 min until the seeds look white and dry.  Remove the seeds from the baking sheet, let them cool, and enjoy!
