Soledad Gets Pretty!

In an effort to improve aesthetics along Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country, the City of Santa Clarita teamed up with Edison to remove a series of ugly, brown utility poles between Camp Plenty and Sierra Highway, with the final pole removed at the end of November.

Funded by Rule 20 A appropriations administered by Edison, the utility undergrounding project provides for the undergrounding of older overhead utilities along Soledad at a cost of $5.5 million.

Edison and the City have been working to underground utilities, thus allowing for the removal of the brown wooden poles along this corridor. The removal of the final pole will occur tomorrow night at midnight, according to Edison.

“We’ve been waiting a long time to see those wooden poles come down. The removal of the poles is like the difference between night and day. The Soledad corridor is so much nice to look at now,” exclaimed Councilmember Bob Kellar who has a business on Soledad near Sand Canyon.
