SCV Placed On National Geographic's Map

National Geographic adds Santa Clarita to the U.S. Map

National Geographic has just added Santa Clarita to its popular U.S. maps.  Santa Clarita now joins the exclusive list of California cities that appear on the map including: San Diego, Ventura, Carmel by the Sea, Monterey, San Jose, and San Francisco.

Santa Clarita was added to the map after City Manager Ken Pulskamp wrote the National Geographic editors and told them that Santa Clarita was “missing” from their maps. His letter outlined some of Santa Clarita’s virtues including its ranking as one of the nation’s safest cities and being recognized as the best city to live in California.  With a population of 177,000 Santa Clarita is larger than many of the California cities that were listed on the previous issue of the map.

“I’ve been a collector of National Geographic’s maps for many years, so I immediately noticed that Santa Clarita wasn’t on their list of California cities,” said Pulskamp. “It’s very exciting that they have decided to add Santa Clarita to the list and give us a place on a map that has worldwide visibility.”

National Geographic Society is one of the world’s largest nonprofit scientific and educational organizations, with the mission of increasing geographic knowledge.
