SCV Food Pantry Announces Volunteer Day with Fieldstone Communities Employees

The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry is proud to be the recipient of Fieldstone Communities Employees Volunteer Day 2005.   Twenty employees from Fieldstone Communities spent their volunteer day at the SCV Food Pantry unloading food, sorting food, and cleaning the Pantry.  In addition, the Fieldstone employees conducted their own food drive at their Santa Clarita office and brought the donated food with them at the beginning of their volunteer day.

“The Fieldstone volunteers were wonderful and they worked…worked….worked all day. The food donated by the volunteers was a generous gesture by Fieldstone and helped us keep the food inventory at acceptable levels during the last part of the summer when donations are at their slowest” says Belinda Crawford, Executive Director of the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry.

Fieldstone Communities began employee volunteer days in conjunction with its 20th anniversary in 2000.  Positive employee feedback resulted in a commitment to give employees a day off each year during which they could volunteer with a nonprofit in the community where they work.  This year the employees picked the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry as one of the deserving nonprofits in the community.

“This was an opportunity to augment our support of nonprofits in Santa Clarita, which responds to our mission-driven call to be of service to the community.  Our employees also enjoy interacting with and learning about nonprofits serving the local communities where we are building,” said Steve Cameron, Orange County Metro Division President.

The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry was established in 1986 by a small group of community volunteers.  The Pantry uses food donations from the community to provide supplemental food on a short-term basis to qualified local residents.  Approximately 60 volunteers work together to sort food, prepare bags, and assist clients. The commitment of the Food Pantry is that “No child in the Santa Clarita Valley should go to bed hungry.”

Fieldstone Communities, Inc. is part of The Fieldstone Group of Companies, which is headquartered in Newport Beach, CA.  Since 1981, companies within Fieldstone have built more than 20,000 homes in Southern California, Utah, and Texas for a total sales volume of almost $5 billion.  For more information, visit www.fieldstone-homes.com
