SBC Classic Presents Local Hospital With Major Donation
Champions Tour Event to Provide $110,000 to Benefit Southern
Healthcare Community California
SANTA CLARITA, Calif., (August 15, 2005) – The SBC Classic, an annual Champions Tour golf tournament in Valencia, Calif., announced today that it will donate $110,000 to the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation to benefit the foundation’s plans to renovate its emergency department, which will include creation of a new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. SBC Senior Vice President (South) Dave Nichols will present the donation at a special ceremony on Tuesday, August 16, at 9:30 a.m. outside the front doors of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. The hospital is located at 23845 McBean Parkway in Santa Clarita.
"SBC is thrilled to help provide local Southern California residents with larger and better equipped health facilities," said Nichols. "The Champions Tour and the SBC Classic are deeply committed to giving back to local communities, and our annual tournament has been a fantastic venue for encouraging local residents to enjoy the best in golf while connecting with fellow residents and raising money to help local charities, such as the hospital."
The SBC Classic donation is part of $10 million raised to date towards a $12 million campaign to more than double the size of the current emergency department at the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. The donation efforts will also support the development of a new Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Construction of the new facilities broke ground in March of 2005 and have an expected completion date of fall 2006.
“We are pleased and proud of our partnership with the SBC Classic, and we are grateful for the significant contribution toward the tournament’s $250,000 pledge to support the hospital’s ‘Campaign for the Next Generation of Care’,” said Diana Vose, president of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation. “The commitment from SBC is a meaningful expression of support for the advancement of healthcare in the Santa Clarita Valley.”
Each year the SBC Classic invites charities and nonprofit organizations to join the “Champions for Charity” and “Charity Partners” programs, which provide organizations with the opportunity to utilize the SBC Classic to generate funds through the sale of tickets and corporate hospitality.
