Santa Clarita Wildcats Sending Two Teams To Super Bowl

In just its second year of competition, the Santa Clarita Wildcats will have two representatives in the Gold Coast League Championship this weekend. Both the Mighty Mites and Junior I Navy Wildcats will play in Super Bowl III after securing semi-final victories last Saturday.
The Mighty Mites are a first year team of 6-8 year olds, yet they have been impressive in their performance all year, surprising many opponents along the way to an 10-1 record. Their game will be a rematch against #1 seeded Simi Valley Green who provided the Wildcats only set back of the year, 12-8.
The Mighty Mites advanced after a come from behind 20-12 win over Moorpark Gold, putting them in position to win the SC Wildcats first Super Bowl.
The J1 Navy Wildcats (10-12 YO), started the season as the #1 ranked team in its division and they did not disappoint. At 12-0, the Navy Wildcats have achieved their season long goal of reaching the Super Bowl and will face #2 seeded Simi Valley Gold who they previously defeated 30-6.
J1 Navy continued to show its' dominance in its division with a commanding semi-final win over #4 WestlakeOrange, 33-6.
Santa Clarita Wildcats
Formed in 2006 with a total of six teams, the Wildcats exploded in their second year, adding four teams and playing home games at both West Ranch and Golden Valley High Schools. The Chapter provides football and cheer for nearly 300 families from all over Santa Clarita.
The Wildcats are the only GCYFL team in the SCV and as such are able to attract players from throughout the valley. The Chapter will continue to grow and strengthen its’ foundation as the elite youth football program in Santa Clarita heading into 2008.
Gold Coast Youth Football League
The GCYFL formed in 2005 with a foundation of seven chapters and less than 50 teams in five age/weight divisions. Now in its’ third season, the league has grown rapidly to include 12 chapters and nearly 100 teams from Santa Clarita to Ventura County.
The GCYFL is committed to providing a competitive yet safe environment for its players with the implementation of balanced age/weight divisions. The League will continue to grow heading toward the 2008 season with additional chapters/teams in Ventura, the San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita.
Chapters of the GCYFL include: Camarillo Cougars, Crown Valley Colts, Fillmore Raiders, Grace Brethren Lancers, Harvard-Westlake Wolverines, Moorpark Packers, Oxnard Golden Knights, Santa Clarita Wildcats, Santa Paula Cardinals, Simi Valley Vikings, Valley Panthers and the Westlake Braves
