Santa Clarita Selects Jeff O’Keefe to Lead Transit

Former ATC Manager chosen as City's new Transit Manager

The City of Santa Clarita recently appointed 25-year transit veteran, Jeff O'Keefe, to the position of Transit Manager. O'Keefe replaces Bob Murphy who recently retired from the position. Jeff O'Keefe is an experienced transit professional who has worked on transit projects in California, Phoenix, Nevada and Connecticut. While in Connecticut he served on the States Transportation Strategy Board having been appointed by the Speaker of the House of Connecticut General Assembly. He also served as general manager in the mid-1990’s in Santa Clarita for ATC, the City’s contract company for transit services in the Santa Clarita Valley. "I am extremely excited to be given this opportunity in Santa Clarita. The Santa Clarita Transit system is recognized as one of the best transit systems in the nation, and I look forward to continuing to build upon this tradition in my new role as Transit Manager,” commented O’Keefe. O'Keefe has been an active participant on transportation initiatives at the national level, having served on several committees and as a board director for the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), as well as on the Transportation Research Board in Washington D.C.  O'Keefe holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Northridge and has directly managed and led transit systems throughout his career.
“We are thrilled to have Jeff on board as our new Transit Manager. He brings a wealth of experience to Santa Clarita, along with a “can-do” attitude, which fits in with our City philosophy,” commented Darren Hernandez, Administrative Services Director for the City.
The Santa Clarita Transit system recently moved into its new state of the art facility and has been recognized nationally as one of the "best" transit systems in the nation. Mr. O'Keefe begins his new assignment on June 19th.
