Rep. McKeon Reappointed to the National Council on the Arts
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL) this week reappointed U.S. Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon for a two year term to the National Council on the Arts. Rep. McKeon, who serves as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on 21st Century Competitiveness, has just completed his fourth term on the council. Rep. Pat Tiber (R-OH) was also appointed to the council. "The arts are an important part of our culture and provide us with a deeper understanding of the world around us," said Rep. McKeon. "I am grateful for the continued opportunity to serve, and look forward to working with Rep. Tiberi and other members of the council to continue to advance the arts and arts appreciation in a responsible manner."
The National Arts Council advises the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts on agency policies and programs. It reviews and makes recommendations to the Chairman on applications for grants, funding guidelines, and leadership initiatives. Since 1997, the council membership has included six members of Congress.
