Rep. Brad Sherman to Co-Sponsor McKeon’s Cemex Bill

Representative Brad Sherman from the 27th congressional district has decided to co-sponsor Buck McKeon’s Cemex bill.

Rep. Sherman disclosed that even though he represents a part of the San Fernando Valley, the Cemex mega mine would still have a devastating effect on his constituents.

“Its not just Santa Clarita people driving south for work. A lot of San Fernando residents are commuting north, into Santa Clarita every day,” says Rep. Sherman. “The added traffic is going to be bad.”

And it wasn’t just the traffic that concerned him. The air quality issues are something he plans to look into.

“I’m still waiting to see the reports, but as far as I know people like breathing.”

Rep. Sherman said he was contacted by Robert Rodriguez, a democrat who was running against McKeon for congress. Upon looking over the Cemex plan, Sherman agreed to co-sponsor.

The official act of co-sponsoring the bill will have to wait until Congress gets back into session.
