Pitchess Getting Updated Fencing
For safety reasons, a new fence will be installed.
To improve security and public safety at the Pitchess Detention Center East Facility, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the installation of a replacement security fence for the Detention Center, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
The existing fence, which was part of the original construction at the Pitchess Detention Center East Facility has deteriorated and become a threat according to Sheriff Deputies, who have reported inmates removing pieces of the fence and fashioning the material into weapons.
“This vital fence replacement project will address public safety and security within the Pitchess Facility,” said Antonovich. “This new fence will prevent inmates from constructing makeshift weapons that could be used on other inmates or jail officials.”
The new state of the art fence will be 14 feet high, constructed of chain-link, and the upper four feet will be reinforced with a “no climb” fabric. The total cost to replace and install the fence is $111,000.
