Officials Seeking Homeless Shelter Site
Deputies working for Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich hope for a planning meeting in early January to pinpoint a site for a permanent homeless shelter that has been in the works....
The deputies plan to brainstorm with the nonprofit Santa Clarita Community Development Corporation to determine a suitable location. The CDC has operated an emergency winter shelter for the last seven years, but the Canyon Country shelter was closed in October when the City Council refused to renew the lease for the property.
A temporary shelter has been created on Centre Pointe, but the permanent solution will be ironed out during the course of the future meetings.
