Minority Students Scores Up in SCV
Hispanic, black and low-income students in Santa Clarita Valley schools are improving their scores on the STAR state mandated test, but some still have a way to go to reach the state mandated goal of 800. The William S. Hart Union High School District, comprised of eight high schools and six junior highs, showed African-Americans increasing last year’s scores by 20 points to 706 from 686 in 2004, according to figures from the California Department of Education.
