Man And Woman Of The Year Nominees Announced
Volunteers get the red carpet treatment.

Twenty-four Santa Clarita Valley movers and shakers were introduced to the community Tuesday night as candidates for 2007 SCV Man and Woman of the Year.
They were presented at a gala "Paparazzi Party" hosted in the Sand Canyon home of Carl and Jeri Seratti-Goldman. Ms. Seratti-Goldman was the 2005 Woman of the Year.
These candidates were nominated by Santa Clarita Valley service clubs, non-profit organizations and foundations. They are being honored for their contributions to the community through voluntary service. Some have been doing charity work for more than three decades.
The 10 men and 14 women read like a who's who of Santa Clarita Valley volunteer service. Those nominated for Man of the Year are: Greg Amsler, John Boston, Wayne Crawford, John Frye, Carl Goldman, Barry Gump, John Murray, Greg Nutter, Cary Quashen and Steve Zimmer. Nominated for Woman of the Year are: Susan Armstrong, Kelly Burke, Nancy Butler, Jeannie Carpenter, Jeanna Crawford, Peggy Edwards, Suzon Gerstel, Linda Hafizi, Pam Ingram, Marlee Lauffer, Carole Lutness, Jill Mellady, Gail Ortiz and Judy Penman.
The SCV Man and Woman of the Year goes back more than 40 years. Over that time, many prominent Santa Clarita Valley persons have been honored, including Bill Bonelli, Jr. (1966), Reverend Samuel Dixon (1973), Connie Worden-Roberts (1975), Jo Anne Darcy (1984), George Pederson (1997), and Don and Cheri Fleming (2004).
The judging of this year's honorees will be done solely by past Men and Women of the Year. Co-chairs of this year's event are Michael Berger and Diana Cusumano, the 2006 SCV Man and Woman of the Year. The candidates will be judged on volunteerism (time worked with a charity), length of service and the number of organizations supported.
The official 2007 Man and Woman of the Year will be named at the 40th Annual Recognition Dinner to be held Friday, May 4, 2007, at the Hyatt Valencia Hotel. This event will pay tribute to the top volunteers in Santa Clarita Valley and to past award recipients. It will include dinner, a multi-media presentation and the recognition ceremony. Besides receiving this life-long honor, the 2007 Man and Woman of the Year will receive cash contributions from the event to donate to their favorite charities.
