Magic Mountain and I-5 Construction Makes Progress
Construction Continues as water lines are completed
The construction of two water lines by Castaic Lake Water Agency west of The Old Road on Magic Mountain Parkway is complete.
The general contractor, Security Paving Construction, is continuing the construction of the rectangular shaped storm drain box, which is located west of The Old Road. Starting the end of May early June, the contractor will be constructing the box culvert, which crosses underneath Magic Mountain Parkway west of The Old Road. Construction is continuing for the box on The Old Road south of Magic Mountain Parkway and north of Skyview Lane. The construction of the storm drain box is approximately 80 percent complete. It is anticipated that the work will last for two months. Two lanes each direction will remain open during construction.
The City will be working with Magic Mountain Theme Park for detouring of traffic. The City is continuing coordination with affected utility companies on a bi-weekly basis for various utility relocation and removal on Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road. AT&T and the City are working with Caltrans on obtaining construction encroachment permits for the relocation and installation of new conduit lines.
Currently, we are working on Phase 2 of the 11 phases for these improvements. The anticipated completion of this phase is fall 2007. This phase includes constructing portions of freeway on-ramps and off-ramps, the majority of the drainage box, and retaining walls. During this phase, existing ramps and local roadways (Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road) will be open for vehicular traffic.
