Local Talent Will Fly to D.C.
Congressional Art Winner 2007 will see her piece displayed in the Capitol
This June, Santa Clarita’s 2007 Congressional Art Winner, Laura Peskay will travel to Washington D.C. to see her artwork displayed alongside many other district winners. A couple weeks ago, Laura Peskay competed in the Congressional Art Contest as part of the Citywide Art Exhibit and Exchange.
After winning the award, Southwest Airlines graciously donated three round-trip plane tickets for Peskay and her family. Once in Washington D.C., her work, “Vintage Lady”, a charcoal piece, will hang in the Capitol for one whole year.
Peskay says she is, “surprised; there are so many other wonderful works here”. Yet, she considers it an “honor to show the Country what Santa Clarita and Newhall can do if they put their minds to it”. Undoubtedly, Laura Peskay has shown the country what talent and heart can achieve.
