Learn How To Respond To An Emergency

C.E.R.T. will offer an emergency educational course in September

Following an emergency/disaster, Santa Clarita may be on its own for a period of time because of the size of the area affected, lost communications, and unpassable roads.

CERT (Community Emergency Response Training) is designed to help you, your family, and your neighbors in the event of catastrophic disaster. Because emergency services personnel will not be able to help everyone immediately, you can make a difference by using the training to help save lives and protect property.

Are you ready to respond to a disaster situation at home, work, school, or even at a movie? This program is will empower to take action, and to be prepared and equipped when an emergency/disaster occurs.

The course is 21 hours long, and is instructed in seven sessions.  Topics covered include disaster preparedness, fire suppression safety/utility control, hazardous materials, terrorism, triage, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue operations, and team organization and management. The final night of class concludes with hands on disaster simulation.

The next training begins on Septemer 13, 2007 and it will run for seven consecutive Thursday evenings, through October 25, from 6:45 PM to 9:45 PM.  Visit www.santa-clarita.com and click on CERT to download the registration form.

The materials fee is $30, and participants need to be 18 years old.  Space is currently available, so if you are interested don't hesitate.
