Last Chance to “Save the TCU”
One last demonstration is planned for today at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital to save the Transitional Care Unit.
Concerned citizens of the Santa Clarita Valley have demonstrated through rallies and a town hall meeting their fear that HMNMH will close the TCU.
The TCU plays the vital role of ‘stepping stone’ from acute care, to home and independence. Patients with strokes, heart attacks, surgery, and other chronic illnesses who still require supportive care can be safely eased into their homes from a TCU setting. The 27 bed unit has 5 beds dedicated to hospice care.
The hospital is set to make a decision on the TCU at today’s board meeting. The sit-in demonstration is will be held from 3:30-5:00pm, just prior to the board meeting.
Stay tuned to KHTS for interviews live from the demonstation.
