LA County Frees Funding To Keep Kids Out Of Trouble
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved nearly $4 million in supplemental Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA) funds to expand and enhance the services provided by the Probation Department, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
“This vital State funding will allow our Probation Department to hire 12 additional Deputy Probation Officers for the Department’s School and After-School programs including the Technology Drive Community Day School in Palmdale,” said Supervisor Antonovich. “This funding will also provide for the expansion of the District Attorney’s “Abolish Chronic Truancy” program and other vital programs targeting at-risk youth.”
The County Probation Department will also increase its presence at county parks and recreation centers including Charles White Park in Altadena and Courson and Domenic Massari Parks in Palmdale.
The remaining funds will be used for training and increase contracts with various community-based organizations for services to youth.
