KHTS Launches “Live @ Burger King” Concert Series

On April 22, Santa Clarita radio station AM-1220 KHTS, in partnership with Burger King of Santa Clarita, will kick off the first broadcast of “Live @ Burger King,” hosted by Scot Peeples. The live, all-ages rock concert will be held every Saturday from 10 p.m. to midnight.
The first concert will coincide with the 20th Anniversary of Burger King on Bouquet Canyon Road at Newhall Ranch Road.
“Live @ Burger King” will feature four bands from one Santa Clarita Valley high school each week, rotating through all the schools. Future shows will feature bands from local junior high schools and colleges. Each band will receive 30 minutes of airtime, including interviews, a live performance, and broadcast of a “garage-” or studio-recorded track.

The entire show will be broadcast live on AM-1220 KHTS, streamed live on the Internet at, and as an “on-demand” broadcast available to download anytime to an iPod or computer from

The idea behind the show is to allow local bands to gain exposure through broadcasting on the radio. “Even though these won’t be paying gigs, the exposure is great,” said Peeples, a musician and student at College of the Canyons. “The fact that the bands will be able to hear themselves on the radio and have their music available on the Internet is just as rewarding.”

“We were looking for the perfect program for a younger audience,” said Carl Goldman, owner of KHTS. “This show does exactly that, and we’re hopeful it may launch a few careers in the music business. Wouldn’t it be really cool if we discovered the next Beatles ‘Live @ Burger King’?”

“We’re really excited to have partnered with KHTS on this show, and we’re looking forward to being involved with the cutting-edge technology of the on-demand podcast,” said Burger King Owner Dave Wurts. “Hopefully, the bands can come out and have a good time while enjoying a burger and fries with their fans.”

KHTS and Burger King anticipate “Live @ Burger King” will become the Saturday night event for the city’s teens, who won’t have to leave the Santa Clarita Valley. Admission is free for everyone. For further information about “Live @ Burger King,” visit or contact Peeples at
