I-5 Opens After Fiery Crash

The I-5 is now open in both directions following a fiery crash early Thursday morning involving a truck carrying explosive peroxide and a produce truck.  The crash sparked a 20 acre brush fire and shut down the freeway in both directions for most of the day.


Both drivers suffered minor injuries in the crash that occurred shortly after on the northbound side of the I-5, north of Highway 138 near Gorman.  By the freeway was shut down in both directions through the TejonPass from

More than 200 emergency personnel responded, including 12 engines from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and 30 units from the California Highway Patrol, plus several hazardous materials crews and members of the Los Angeles County Health Department.
