Wrapping up the weekend’s local football action, the COC Cougars set several records in their 67 to 18 rout of West LA College. The Cougars broke the record for points scored and for touchdowns in a game, with 9. Fred Winborn rushed for a record 256 yards and the offense gained a record 711 yards.
In high school action, The Hart Indians remain the only local undefeated team as they destroyed Claremont 50 to 10 behind Delano Howell’s 231 rushing yards. Valencia blew out St. John Bosco 56 to 7 as quarterback, Graham Wilbert threw for 4 touchdowns. Golden Valley evened their record at 2 - 2 with a 16 to 6 win over Kilpatrick. Saugus was defeated 38 to 35 by Notre Dame, as the Knights scored the winning touchdown with six seconds left in the game. Canyon dropped to 1 - 3 with a 24 to 21 loss to Chaminade. Santa Clarita Christian came from behind to salvage a 37 – 37 tie against Hesperia Christian.
The Dodgers dropped their season finale 11 to 2 to the San Francisco Giants. The American League Western Division Champion Angels open their divisional playoff series this Wednesday, as they face the Boston Red Sox.
The LA Kings and Anaheim Ducks opened the NHL season with a pair of games in London, England. The Kings won on Saturday and Ducks won on Sunday by identical scores of 4 to 1. Remember, that you can hear Kings games all season long, on AM-1220 KHTS.
