History of the Ridge Route Presentation – May 6th
Presented by The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society
This Saturday, May 6th, at 2PM, The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society will be presenting Harrison Scott, noted Ridge Route historian and author of the book “Ridge Route-The Road That United California,” as part of the newly re-established SCV Historical Society Lecture Series. Mr. Scott will be giving a Power Point presentation on the history of the famous Ridge Route, the road that preceded Highway 99 and Interstate 5 in our area. It was the first road to serve as a direct connection between the Los Angeles area and Central and Northern California. He will also be giving an update on efforts to restore the road, which was heavily damaged during last year’s rainstorms.
The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society is located at Saugus Train Station in Heritage Junction, adjacent to William S. Hart Park - 24107 San Fernando Road in Newhall. For information, contact the Historical Society at (661) 254-1275.
