George And Sharon Runner Named Legislators Of The Year
Diane Webb, CSAIA President and LAPD investigator said, "Senator and Assembly Member Runner are strong and proactive leaders in our fight to obtain the necessary tools to identify, apprehend and incarcerate dangerous sex offenders. They have been leaders in our efforts relative to solving and preventing sex crimes and in local law enforcement in general." The primary purpose of this Association is to provide high quality training in the fields of sexual assault prevention, detection, investigation, evidence collection and analysis, prosecution, victim services and support, incarceration and treatment of offenders, offender monitoring, as well as other closely related areas.
Assemblywoman Sharon Runner said, "We are very honored by the California Sexual Assault Investigators Association's award. These are men and women that are in the field every day working to keep our communities safe.
We are very appreciative of their hard work." Senator George Runner said, "This association is built with people that fight to protect our children from sex offenders. Unfortunately, some of California's laws handcuff the investigators and make it more difficult to do their job. However, with the passage of Jessica's Law, there would be many more tools available to investigators in order to better protect our communities and appropriately punish the sex offenders."
California Sexual Assault Investigators Association exists to promote and increase constructive relationships between investigators throughout the state and nation in order to aid in the rapid dissemination of information, as well as to form contacts and liaisons to further assist in the apprehension of offenders. This is done through effective investigation and prosecution of sexual assault cases in order to ensure that victims receive the highest level of service and sensitivity and those offenders procure the maximum measure of the law.
