Free E-Waste and Household Hazardous Waste Roundup Coming To Santa Clarita!
Santa Clarita residents will be able to dispose of their old electronic waste such as VCRs, stereos, fax machines, computer keyboards and cellular telephones along with their household hazardous waste such as paint, paint remover, used motor oil, pesticides, aerosol cleaning products, lighter fluid, and expired prescription drugs at the free Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Roundup at College of the Canyons.
As part of the Los Angeles County’s attempt to help ensure that hazardous material is properly disposed, residents will be able to bring their waste to the south parking lot of College of the Canyons, located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2005.
“The proper disposal of household hazardous waste and e-waste helps to ensure the safety of our public health,” said Mayor Cameron Smyth.
Remember to limit 15 gallons or 125lbs. per vehicle, do not mix materials and keep the original labels on containers. Put all materials in sturdy boxes in the trunk of the car. Items that will not be accepted include waste from businesses, explosives, ammunition or radioactive materials.
Since the first Household Hazardous Waste Roundup in 1988, more than 640,000 households have participated in the annual event. More than 80 percent of the household hazardous waste and 100 percent of the e-waste collected by the program is recycled.
