Ewart Family Sunday Update
Here’s the latest update on the Ewart Family. In the early morning on Tuesday, December 20th, fire destroyed their Valencia home. Six family members were in the house at the time, three were seriously injured and sent to the Grossman Burn Center. Since the fire, our Valley has jumped in to assist. This is the latest update courtesy of neighbors, Josy and Steve Block.
DAVID is resting comfortably at home after a very exhausting day yesterday. He very badly wants to go to Church tomorrow, which is why he is trying to take it very easy today. The following information is from Mary Berg at the Newhall Church of the Nazarene: We are asking the Church members to please make it a point not to bombard him. He will be arriving a little late, and will possibly leave a little early. This will all be based upon how he feels & what he says. He may want to stay to see people. But, please be ready to play it by ear & take it one step at a time. He shouldn't get too tired out because the Daily News will be interviewing him later in the afternoon, and hopefully, he will get a chance to rest before that. At this point he pretty much realizes everything about his loss, but please be sensitive to the fact that he is still digesting a lot of information. We would recommend that you continue to keep the conversation light, unless he brings something up.
MICHAEL continues to rest, relax and recover.
* IMMEDIATE NEEDS: David needs the following items: 1 Lightweight Bathrobe, 1 Humidifier , 1 Electric Blanket (Twin size).
If you are able to get any of these items, please let us know & we will provide you with delivery details. Please send us an email BEFORE you purchase any of these items, in case someone already volunteered to do so. We will notify you by return email if the item still needs purchasing. (and THANK YOU for all your enthusiastic replies! It is a testament to how well David is loved by the outpouring of so many generous friends wishing to help at a moments' notice!).
* It's so heartwarming to see such nice things continuing to happen for the Ewarts. We are told that today, Michelle Crawford, Kim Reed and Irwin Brown cleaned out David's car. Now, for those of you who don't know David well, this was no easy feat!! LOL. David's a "run-around" dad, and therefore has accumulated a lot of "stuff" in the car. Irwin Brown wants to make life easy for David and has arranged for the car to be overhauled and detailed!!! Thanks Irwin!!! Floyd at Tune-Up King will be donating some of the work! Pretty Cool!!! Thanks to all of you for your teamwork in making this happen!!!
* Foster Elementary School's Wisdom Tree family night was fun and successful - there were over 120 people in attendance which is quite a good turnout. They donated 10% of their sales directly to the Ewart Catastrophe Fund, which of course is deeply appreciated! Thank you to Shirley Buchignani for organizing this event.
* Celebrity Golf Tournament Planning Meeting - DATE CHANGE - We are changing the date of this meeting to Wednesday, February 1, 2006 to better accommodate everyone's schedule. The members of this team will be receiving a separate email with more specifics.
