Ewart Family: Friday Update
Here’s the latest update on the Ewart Family. In the early morning on Tuesday, December 20th, fire destroyed their Valencia home. Six family members were in the house at the time, three were seriously injured and sent to the Grossman Burn Center. Since the fire, our Valley has jumped in to assist. This is the latest update courtesy of neighbors, Josy and Steve Block.
MICHAEL had what should be his last major surgery today (Thursday). It is hoped that very soon, he could be walking. Yesterday (Wednesday), they wheeled him in a wheelchair to see his dad for the first time since they've been at the Center.
DAVID is still on the respirator. They are not going to take him off the respirator until they are 100% sure he is ready. He is beginning to regain consciousness. Yesterday (Wednesday), he saw all his kids for the first time. He smiled.
* Jonathan's Website - NEW AND IMPROVED - To keep up with the huge demand, Jonathan basically had to upgrade his site. This new account has more data transfer capacity allowances and should be able to handle the high demands this group is placing on it. LOL. The new site is: http://firstname.lastname@example.org/ . This new link doesn't show ads. There are some updates as of today, including an interesting look at Michaels menu which includes: Burger King, Ravioli, In & Out Milk Shakes and more! Jonathan offers a great perspective, so please check it out!
We will be trying to add this link to our main website: www.EwartAid.org so you'll be able to view both websites from one location.
* Thank you to John Noonan - you'll remember, he's the one who scrambled in the rain to get Michael's iPod within just hours of posting the request last week. Well, what you didn't know was that Mr. Noonan spoke to the folks at BEST BUY and explained the situation to them, asking if they ever make donations. They told him that sometimes the company will do so, and will offer a maximum of $150, and that he should follow-up with them during the next week. John followed up, and BEST BUY graciously donated $150 towards the David Ewart Catastrophe Fund. Heartfelt thanks to the folks at Best Buy!
* Let's hear it for the people of a YMCA group who have raised $1,500 for the Ewarts! Your kindness will be very much appreciated by the Ewart family!
* Thanks to everyone who is sending in stories for the scrapbook. Some of the stories have been so touching, one cannot help but shed a tear! It's like a "Chicken Soup for the Ewarts" book! Please...keep 'em coming!
