Deputy March's Killer Apprehended

Mexican authorities arrested Armando Garcia, the suspect in the 2002 killing of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy David March. 

On Thursday, agents of the Mexican Federal Investigation Agency apprehended Garcia in Tonala which is in the western Jalisco state of Mexico.

 

Deputy David March was killed during a routine traffic stop on April 2002, in Irwindale.  Garcia fled to his native Mexico which in turn had numerous government officials, including Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, Supervisor Michael Antonovich, Sheriff Lee Baca, District Attorney Steve Cooley, and Councilman Bob Keller, pursuing avenues to ensure Garcia’s arrest and extradition.  Deputy March’s widow, Teri, a local resident, has made every effort to keep her husband’s case a priority.

According to U.S. Ambassador Tony Garza, U.S. authorities will now have 60 days to file an extradition request.
