DA Releases Garcias Indictment
An eight-count indictment against the suspected killer of a rookie Burbank police officer was unsealed by the district attorney Wednesday...
David A. Garcia, 20, was charged April 20 with special circumstance allegations of the murder and attempted murder of a peace officer in the line of duty, as well as two counts each of possession of a machine gun and possession of an assault weapon, one count of possession of a silencer, and one count of transportation of methamphetamine.
District Attorney Steve Cooley said unsealing the indictment moves the judicial process ahead quicker.
“Based on the evidence, we believe we have a strong case,” Cooley said in a statement. “We look forward to presenting it to a jury as soon as possible and achieving some measure of justice for the brutal murder of Officer Matthew Pavelka and the attempted murder of his partner, Officer Gregory Campbell.”
