Cycle Showdown Makes For Good Competition.
It was cycle madness this afternoon at the Westfield Town Center, as KHTS and the City of Santa Clarita put on the Cycle Showdown. The race put athletes, city officials and media people on the seat of a stationary bike to see who can pedal further in 30 seconds.
And the winners are:
Valencia Football players Stephen London and Andrew Morse narrowly lost to Canyon’s Jonathan Hammock and Jordan Ferguson.
Sharon Bronson of KHTS beat Margie Clark of Elite Magazine in what Dave Caldwell dubbed the “Battle of the Media Darlings.”
Councilmember TimBen Boydston lost to Deputy Artie Thompson.
In perhaps the most disputed race of the day, Mayor Marsha McLean beat Professional cyclist Ivan Dominguez. Eyewitnesses say that Dominguez did not appear to be giving 110%.
The day was a lot of laughs, and it’s one of a series of events designed to draw attention to the Amgen Tour of California, that will make its way into Santa Clarita two weeks from today.
