County Reconsiders Shelter Site

The location of the Santa Clarita Valley homeless shelter is still up in the air as a county official withdrew his support for the use of the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.  “The (Castaic Area) Town Council voted 4-3 to oppose having a temporary winter shelter in the parking lot of the Pitchess Detention Center,” said Tony Bell, a spokesman for Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich. “Supervisor Antonovich will honor their wish and oppose a shelter (at Pitchess Detention Center). We are working to come up with an alternative in short order.”
