WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) today announced that ten young people from the 25th Congressional District have been appointed to our nation's prestigious service academies and preparatory schools.

The appointees will attend a special luncheon hosted by Rep. McKeon on Saturday, June 11, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Century Room of Santa Clarita City Hall, located at 23920 West Valencia Blvd.

"I am proud of all our students who were admitted to our nation's service academies this year," said Rep. McKeon.  "These young men and women have spent years excelling in their studies and extracurricular activities to gain admission to these fine institutions.  Most admirably, they have demonstrated a love and commitment for our country which will lead them to rewarding careers as officers in the United States Military.  I congratulate all of the new admits, and wish them great success in their academic and career pursuits."

Students entering the service academies receive formal military training, a bachelor's degree and an officer's commission in one of the four branches of the military.  The students receiving appointments will enter the academies this Fall.
