COC to Offer Class to Fight Terror
A new College of the Canyons course in battling terrorists will be offered to police officers, firefighters and their supervisors.
A total of $595,698 from the Bureau of Justice Assistance through the U.S. Department of Justice will fund the eight-hour special class, which uses software simulation “modules” to train first-response officials.
The so-called “modules” are reminiscent of interactive video games. In this case, local defenders will battle terrorists in simulations, using software originally developed for the Marine Corps.
