City Ushers In Pride Week 2006

Help keep the Santa Clarita Valley clean and beautiful! The City of Santa Clarita, along with numerous community sponsors, is present Pride Week 2006.

This weeklong series of events begins on Sunday April 2, 2006 and continues through Saturday, April 8, 2006. Pride Week is an annual event, aimed at ridding the City of trash and giving local residents the opportunity to take an active part in keeping their neighborhoods clean. The week will begin with Community Clean-up Day, where residents can bring trash to four different sites (see below) and dispose of it free of charge.

Throughout Pride Week, Santa Clarita citizens can also volunteer to help clean up and beautify the community. Participation is easy! Residents simply select a project with the Pride Week volunteer coordinator and the city supplies them with a free T-shirt and trash bags. Pride Week will conclude with a free Household Hazardous Waste and E-waste Collection Event, sponsored by Los Angeles County and held at the College of the Canyons.

“Pride Week is a great way for residents to take an active part in their community,” said Adele Macpherson, Community Services Superintendent for the City. “People of all ages can come out and help us clean up and maintain areas in the City that may need a little attention. To volunteer during Pride Week or to obtain further information, please call the City’s Community Services Division at 661 255-4965.
