City Of Santa Clarita To Distribute Free Oil Kits At Motorcycle Event
The Event will be held at Route 66.
On Wednesday, June 14, the City of Santa Clarita is hosting Route 66 Bike Night and distributing free, “do-it-yourself” oil change kits. The event will be held at the Route 66 Classic Bar and Grill located at 18730 Soledad Canyon in Canyon Country, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. SCS Engineers will be at the information booth, distributing kits while supplies last.
The oil recycling kits include an oil drainer container and funnel made from recycled plastic, a shop rag made from recycled cotton, a Kardbord Creeper Mat made from recycled cardboard, a filter bag, and a tire gauge. In addition to the free oil kit, attendees can learn how and where to properly dispose of used motor oil and filters.
“This is a great opportunity for motorcyclists to learn vital information when it comes to changing the oil in their bikes in an environmentally safe manner,” said Travis Lange, Environmental Services Manager. “Many people don’t know that it is illegal to dispose of used oil down a drain or sewer. More importantly it is very harmful and damaging to our environment. There is a process to disposing used oil.”
The California Integrated Waste Management Board is funding the event with Used Motor Oil Block Grant money. For more information, contact the Environmental Services division at (661) 286-4098 or via e-mail at www.santa-clarita.com/environment.
