City Plans to Submit Grant Proposal to Bureau of Justice
The City of Santa Clarita will be submitting a grant proposal for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant offered by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. The City intends on using the grant money to fund activities conducted by the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Community Interaction Team (CIT), which strives to enhance community safety. Specific programs to be funded include: sting operations, curfew sweeps, graffiti and anti-gang enforcement, probation/parole enforcement, undercover operations, and other surveillance operations. Grant funds will be used to pay overtime hours for the Community Interaction Team officers who will be implementing these programs. In total, approximately 327 overtime hours would be funded by the grant. The City is asking for public comments concerning the proposal.
