City Finds New Way To Drive Advertising
Residents and businesses can gear up for cycle mania to hit the City as a massive, eye-catching commuter bus, fully wrapped in Amgen Tour of California artwork, was unveiled in front of Santa Clarita City Hall Thursday morning.
The bus is the first in many ways the City will transform itself over the next few weeks to prepare for the Amgen Tour of California, which will make its way into the City on Saturday, February 24. In addition to the bus, paseo banners, street pole signage, bus shelter displays and a host of pre-race events will set the stage for the City’s visibility to the international cycling community. “This bus is a 45 foot, 48,000 pound invitation on wheels,” said Mayor Marsha McLean. “We invite everyone to join us when the tour comes to the City of Santa Clarita on February 24.” The bus unveiling was followed by a guided tour along the route, where 100,000 spectators are expected to line the streets. On race day, spectators can also enjoy a host of activities and events including a KidZone, a Family Ride and a Lifestyle Festival sponsored by Health Net. The bus will travel daily from Santa Clarita to Downtown Los Angeles. It will be in operation until the Tour arrives. The bus wrap was sponsored by Newhall Land, a platinum sponsor for the Santa Clarita stage of the race.
